“Dimming of the Day”

I just completed this painting which represents the coast range of California near Cambria. The view is looking south to Morro Bay. Both Chris and I are pleased with the way it turned out. The challenge with the presentation of this painting was to create a dark frame with an element representing the fine gold edge of the side lit hills. Chris inlayed a bead of Tiffany style solder with a copper patina. This completed the look we were after, which is both richly traditional and yet contemporary in it’s simplicity. A “fine line” to walk, so to speak!!
